Staged edit forms, autoschedule, and Omni on mobile: the features you asked for

Today's three updates didn't come from an internal roadmap meeting — they came from what users asked for. Staged edit forms mean outside edits arrive as suggestions you approve instead of populating your base without oversight. Autoschedule means a slipped date replans the whole timeline instead of leaving the rest of the plan stale. And Omni, Airtable's AI assistant, is now on mobile, so checking on the launch doesn't require a laptop.

Validate edits before publishing

Until now, there wasn't a real way to force a field to stay filled in on a record detail page — builders resorted to warning formulas that nudged people, but nothing stopped an edit from actually going through empty. Staged edit forms close that gap: turn the feature on, configure a form with real validation, and edits route through it instead of landing inline. Required fields can no longer be cleared, and validation goes beyond "required" — a field like square footage can enforce a minimum value, and the form simply won't submit until it's met.

Autoschedule: A slipped date replans the whole timeline

When one date in a plan changes, the rest of the timeline should adjust downstream instead of going stale. Two related changes work together to make it practical to build a timeline out at all: a default duration value on new tasks, and start dates that auto-populate from a predecessor task the moment you pick one from a searchable list. Chain three or four tasks together this way and a full cascading timeline appears without typing a single end date.

Separately is a rescheduling-mode setting that controls which tasks move when one date changes: reschedule only successor tasks, or reschedule everything downstream. The default is "reschedule all tasks" — the dependent-only behavior is something you opt into.

Omni on mobile: Checking launch status on the go

Omni in Airtable already lives on desktop and web. Now, Omni's conversational AI being is available in the mobile app complete with easier access to replace a more buried, app-constrained way in, interactive record citations you can navigate between, an app switcher to jump between recent chats, and website citations aggregated into a single view rather than listed individually.
